Once you have kids embracing change becomes a regular part of your life. You are constantly readjusting everything as they grow. You do what ever it takes. Sometimes you do it happily and sometimes you do it grudgingly.
Every family is different, with different rhythms, relationships and traditions. I know you’ve heard this before and you have even probably said this at some point. “This is what works for our family.”
Well, each of our bodies is different too, in the same way. So isn’t it just as sensible for you to say, “This is what works for my body.” Which means, you have to know your body and be willing to do what works… for YOU.
Health, fitness, or spirituality – these things are not one-size-fits-all. If you’re following the masses and not getting the results you want then you need to break away from the herd and forge your own path.
Don’t be afraid to try those new ideas! If it seems like a good thing to try, try it, even if it may seem hair-brained! Most of the time the answers to your questions are there in your own head, not with the herd.
In the same way you make decisions for your family based on your beliefs and understanding about what is right, do that for yourself. Allow yourself to think differently, think for yourself. Do for you what you so easily do for your family and others. Tend to yourself. Keep yourself healthy, in the way that is best for you.
Think about it: if it were your children, you would move mountains to keep them healthy. If you can do it for them, then you should be able to do it for yourself.
When you love yourself enough to take care of number one then you will find that you are happier. When you are happier, your spouse is happier, and your kids are happier. It all starts with you! Don’t you think it’s time?
· If your work-out is not working for you– change it!
· If your boot camp isn’t working out for you– change it!
· If your food is not working out for you– change it!
· If your doctor is not getting you the answers you need– change doctors!
As you know, I decided that what I was doing was not working and I decided to make a change. That decision turned out to be what was best for me, and it wasn’t what the rest of the herd is doing. Many probably thought I was crazy for not going with traditional methods. You can see the results of that decision here.
Follow your gut. You know instinctively what is going right and what is not.
Don’t you think it’s time to step past the fear and make the changes you’ve wanted to make? Without change, you will never move forward. Making the change is up to you. The alternative is staying right where you are and never knowing what is possible.
As a mother, you made the most courageous and life-affirming change by giving birth.
Embrace that spirit and give birth to the new you!
